Connect your social accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn)

How to connect Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn to Bynor, which account types are needed, how to reconnect an expired connection and what disconnecting does.

Updated · 4 min read

In short

Bynor connects to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn (personal profile and Company Page). Open Brand, go to Social Accounts and press Connect on the network. Instagram needs a professional account (Business or Creator); Facebook needs a Page you manage; YouTube needs a channel. Each connection enables analytics, publishing and, where available, the inbox. If a connection expires, press Reconnect: your history is safe.

Where to connect

  1. Open Brand in the sidebar and select the brand.
  2. In the Social Accounts section, press Connect on the network.
  3. Log in on the network's page and grant the permissions Bynor asks for.
  4. Back in Bynor, the account shows as Connected, with the features it enables: Analytics, Publishing, Inbox.

The first connection of a new brand happens during setup: see Set up your first brand.

Instagram

Instagram must be a professional account (Business or Creator). A personal account cannot be connected: Bynor shows "Non-professional Instagram account". You can switch an account to professional for free in the Instagram app settings.

There are two ways to connect it:

  • Directly with Instagram: you log in with your Instagram credentials. No Facebook Page needed.
  • Through Facebook (Meta): the Instagram account must be linked to a Facebook Page you manage. Connecting Facebook this way brings Instagram with it.

If Meta restricts publishing on an Instagram account connected through Facebook, Bynor offers Switch to direct Instagram to resume publishing.

Facebook

Press Connect Facebook and choose how you manage the Page:

  • With Business Manager: the Page belongs to a business portfolio; you will select the portfolio and the Page.
  • Page admin, without Business Manager: you manage the Page as an admin and log in with your personal Facebook profile.

Not sure? If you never created a Business Manager for that Page, choose the second option. If you already have Pages connected, leave them selected on Meta's screen and add the new one: unselecting them can disconnect them.

TikTok

Press Connect on TikTok, log in and authorize Bynor. Bynor imports your recent videos and their metrics. When you publish, you always choose the video's privacy level yourself.

YouTube

Press Connect on YouTube and sign in with the Google account that owns the channel. If the account has no YouTube channel, the connection fails: create the channel first.

LinkedIn

Press Connect on LinkedIn and sign in. Bynor then asks you to choose what to connect to this brand: your Personal profile, a Company Page you administer, or both. Select at least one.

  • Company Page: Bynor imports the page's past posts and their metrics, plus followers and page views.
  • Personal profile: Bynor shows metrics only for the posts you publish with Bynor, plus your followers. Past posts and audience demographics are not available for personal profiles.

If you connect both, you choose Publish as (Personal profile or Company Page) on each post.

Connecting from a phone

On some phones the authorization link opens inside the Instagram, Facebook or TikTok app and the connection stops without a message. If it happens, finish from a computer: Bynor can email you a link to complete the connection there.

Reconnect an expired connection

For security, the authorization you give to a network expires from time to time, or ends when you change your password on the network. When this happens:

  • the account shows Connection expired and the Dashboard lists it under To do;
  • press Reconnect and authorize again;
  • your history is safe and future scheduled posts go out normally. Posts whose time passed while the connection was expired do not go out by themselves: retry or reschedule them from the Calendar.

An expired connection is the most common reason a scheduled post does not go out.

Disconnect a network

On the account, press Disconnect and confirm with Yes, disconnect. Disconnecting deletes the data Bynor imported from that network for that brand. Disconnecting Facebook also removes the Instagram data that came through Meta.

One connection per network per brand per month

For security, each brand can connect each network once a month; the month is counted from the day your subscription started, on annual plans too. If you disconnect and want to reconnect sooner (even the same account), Bynor tells you from which date it becomes possible. If you need it earlier, write to [email protected].

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect a personal Instagram account?

No. Instagram's rules allow tools like Bynor to work only with professional accounts (Business or Creator). Switching is free from the Instagram app settings.

Do I need a Facebook Page to connect Instagram?

No, if you connect Instagram directly. Yes, if you connect it through Facebook (Meta).

Can I connect LinkedIn?

Yes. You can connect a LinkedIn personal profile, a Company Page you administer, or both, to the same brand.

Can I connect X, Pinterest or Threads?

Not today. Bynor supports Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.

Will disconnecting delete my posts on Instagram, TikTok or LinkedIn?

No. Nothing is deleted on the social network. Bynor deletes only the copy of the data it imported for that brand.
